Jazz em Agosto 2013
Jazz em Agosto celebrates its 30th anniversary alongside musicians it personally introduced into Portugal – familiar faces who continue to be driving forces behind new, constantly evolving languages, and who will be presenting new projects in 2013.
In this sense, the festival reveals its identity, assembled over the course of three decades, a route that follows the evolution of jazz, the reflection of a time when boundaries are fading and audacity is becoming more conspicuous.
Together with the 30th birthday celebrations of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation's CAM - Centro de Arte Moderna – where it all started, on 1 August 1984, with an opening performance by the Maria João Quintet– on 25 July, Jazz em Agosto is hosting Maria João's new acoustic and electronic project, OGRE.
